National University of Jujuy (Universidad Nacional de Jujuy) is a public Higher Education
Institution which depends on the Ministry of Education of the Nation, it is free of charge (no fees)
and autonomous, its government is shared among teachers, students, graduates and
administrative personnel.
It was founded in 1973 and it has a central office in the Capital City of San Salvador de Jujuy and
twelve offices throughout the province. It has four Colleges and several centers/institutes where
the scientific production of the University is developed.
It is considered as an institution which is consolidated in the Higher Education System of Argentina
at an international level, and it significantly contributes to the sustainable development of the
Region and the positioning of Jujuy at both national and international level.
Its mission is to form people involved in the development of the social, economic and political
issues of the Community, protecting its natural and cultural heritage. Its sphere of knowledge has
international scope and it actively contributes to the sustainable development of the Province, the
Region and the Country.
The Sub-secretariat of Internationalization and Regional Integration (Sub-SIIR) manages all
international relations and it s administration depends on the General Secretariat of the
Institution. The Sub-Secretary is the head of the staff and work is distributed according to the
different tasks or actions that must be developed. All Colleges and Research Institutes are
represented in a Council which gives advice to the Sub-Secretariat.
All agreements with foreign institutions are managed through the Sub-SIIR, and at present there
are around 80 (eighty) agreements in force with universities from America, Asia and Europe.
Relevant inter-institutional links with neighbor countries such as Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil,
Perú and others are managed through the Web. These are CRISCOS (Council of Rectors for the
Sub-region Integration South-American West Center) , UNIVERSITY ZICOSUR (Integration Area
South-American West Center) and UNIRILA (University Web for the Bi-oceanic Corridor Brazil-
north of Chile for integration). These Webs include a mobility program for students, teachers,
researchers and administrative personnel.
The Sub-SIIR is also responsible for the academic and administrative administration of the
ERASMUS Projects, Programs for specific training in Engineering such as ARFITEC and in Agronomy
Sciences such as ARGAFRI and others which come from agreements with the governments of
different countries. It also manages bi-national inter-cultural agreements that make Universidad
Nacional de Jujuy an inclusive university.
Language training is given to all the university community, in several languages like Chinese (5 th
level), English, French, Portuguese and Japanese.
